Executive Summary
On May 22, 2009, after more than 80 years of leadership in the Panamanian and Central American market, the application to constitute and establish ASSA in Costa Rica was filed and approved, according to the registry of the General Superintendence of Insurance, code A05.
ASSA Insurance Company was one of the first private insurance companies to offer new insurance alternatives for Costa Ricans in different products.
ASSA Compañia de Seguros has penetrated the Costa Rican market and is ranked as the second national private capital insurance company, offering high-quality products and services.
With the “ASSA for life” vision, the Company commits to a solid and stable permanence in Costa Rica, providing security and guarantees to its clients

Risk Grading
In 2021, ASSA Costa Rica earned a grade of AAA (cri). This is the 10th year ASSA Costa Rica has earned this grade.
The key factors in obtaining this grade were:

- Adequate operating margin

With the opening of the insurance market in 2008, ASSA Compañía de Seguros, S.A. began the registration process as an insurance company in Costa Rica.
In June 2010, ASSA received the registration resolution of its first product. As of today, ASSA has registered more than forty insurance policies and, become the leader in underwritten premiums at the private sector level.

ASSA Costa Rica was rated AAA (cri), Stable outlook, by Fitch Ratings. The key factors for this rating increase, according to Fitch Ratings, are: the benefit of support from Grupo ASSA S.A., franchise recognition and good positioning, adequate technical margin, good liquidity position, and adequate reinsurance protection, all of these were fundamental to achieving this rating.
