Credit/Debit Card Standard Contract
This policy covers the value of losses suffered by the Insured due to charges fraudulently billed by an unauthorized third party as a result of theft, robbery, loss and/or misplacement of the Credit Card.
Risks or covered transactions
Domestic and Foreign Charges | Charges both domestically and abroad provided that the Credit Card has been issued by the Contracting Party within the geographical limits of the Republic of Costa Rica. |
Loss and Theft | 100% of the transaction(s) made by an unauthorized person(s) with the lost, stolen, stolen, or misplaced card, provided that such transaction(s) were made within a period of time not more than seventy-two (72) hours prior to the receipt of the report of loss to the Contracting Party. |
Card Forgery | In case of forgery or use of the number of any of the Insured’s Credit Account cards, the Insured shall be exempted in full from the payment of the fraudulent transactions made with said card, provided that the card has not left the possession of the cardholder and that the transactions have been made through the use of an instrument with a card number corresponding to one of the cards of the Insured’s Credit Account, which has been printed to simulate a valid Credit Card without being so, or which being so, has been mutilated or modified with the purpose of defrauding. Under this definition, charges fraudulently made by an unauthorized third party that are billed to the insured for the purchase of goods and services made via electronic commerce (internet purchases) are covered, provided that the Credit Card is in the possession of the insured or cardholder. |
ATM Robbery | Robbery at ATMs is understood as the theft of cash withdrawals inside, outside, or within a radius of 15 meters from the ATM, by persons using physical aggression or intimidation against the life or physical integrity of the Insured or Cardholder. Covers up to 3 events per year. |
Additional coverage
Best Price Coverage (applies only to personal cards)
In the event that the Insured Party finds a difference between the price of an item purchased with his/her Credit Card, within sixty (60) calendar days of the original transaction, the Company shall pay the difference between the amount paid and the lowest price found for the same item in any other store or warehouse in the country of issuance of the Credit Card. |
